Berwick
Estates was originally owned by Capt. J.H. Burleigh, son of
the Hon. William Burleigh, in the 1800s. The Burleighs were
wealthy landowners and manufacturers. In 1831 J.H. Burleigh
founded the Burleigh Woolen Mills at Great Works, the first
water-powered mill in America. Medical Care Development
(MCD) purchased the building in 1991 and completed extensive
renovations
enhancing
the home’s charm as a Victorian-era residence. The home
provides a comfortable, small-town environment in a modern
assisted living facility.
Berwick
Estates provides 24-hour services to its residents. Health
care management, and other programs are all developed with
the goal of providing a high quality service tailored to
individual resident needs.
A
qualified staff is on duty 24 hours a day, with
medication administration dispensed by certified staff.
Berwick
Estates works cooperatively with residents’ physicians who
prescribe all treatments and services.
Residents
are assisted with their activities of daily living and
nutritious meals and snacks are provided in accordance with
dietary guidelines.
An
activities schedule is provided that includes social and
recreational events such as socials, bus trips, parties,
luncheon outings, beano, library services, arts & crafts,
films/videos, family banquets, bowling, and religious
studies.
Transportation can be arranged for residents to attend local
church services. The
surrounding communities provide
residents
with the
opportunity to attend the church of his/her choice.
Residents
are encouraged to participate in the facility’s Resident
Council
that meets on a monthly basis.

Gilbert Manor

Gilbert Manor is located
in the heart of Gardiner, a small, quaint community. It was
licensed as a residential care facility in 1972. Through
the years, the building has undergone several additions to
its current size of 43 bedrooms. Medical Care Development,
Inc., a not-for-profit Maine organization, purchased Gilbert
Manor in 1993 and has extensively renovated the building.
Medical
Care Development, Inc., is committed to the development and
operation of facilities that provide the highest quality of
care for the elderly and disabled. Emphasizing a supportive
living environment that meets residents’ individual needs
and stressing their right to independence, dignity and
respect is the mission of managers and staff.

PineWood Terrace

PineWood Terrace was newly constructed in 1995 by Medical
Care Development, Inc., a not-for-profit Maine organization
which is committed to the development and operation of
facilities that provide the highest quality of care for the
elderly and disabled. It is located in the rural community
of Farmington that is also home to the University of Maine
at Farmington.
The home
boasts many modern amenities and the rooms are all on one
floor providing easy access to residents and staff. The
grounds are beautifully landscaped allowing residents to
enjoy outside activities as well as inside.
PineWood
Terrace provides 24-hour services to its residents. Health
care management, social services, and other programs are all
developed with the goal of providing a high quality service
tailored to individual resident needs
A

dispensed by certified staff. PineWood Terrace works
cooperatively with residents’ physicians who prescribe all
treatments and services. PineWood Terrace also provides the
added benefit of transporting all residents to and from
their medical appointments.
Residents are assisted with their activities of daily living
and nutritious meals and snacks are provided in accordance
with dietary guidelines.

York Manor

The York Manor building
was first constructed in 1909 and has been expanded and
renovated several times. In 1981 it was converted from a
hospital to its present use. Medical Care Development (MCD)
purchased the residential care facility in 1989.
York
Manor is located in the heart of Biddeford and is owned and
operated by Medical Care Development, Inc., a not-for-profit
Maine organization, which is committed to the development
and operation of facilities that provide the highest quality
of care for the elderly and disabled.
It is
now home to eighty-nine (89) individuals with varying
backgrounds and ages.
York
Manor provides 24-hour services to its residents. Health
care management, social services, and other programs are all
developed with the goal of providing a high quality service
tailored to individual resident needs.
A
qualified staff is on duty 24 hours a day, with medication
dispensed by certified staff. York Manor works
cooperatively with residents’ physicians, who prescribe all
treatments and services.
Residents are assisted with their activities of daily living
and nutritious meals and snacks are provided in accordance
with dietary guidelines and under the supervision of a
consultant dietician.
The
Social Service Department provides assistance in arranging
services to address individual resident and family needs.
An
activities schedule is provided that includes social and
recreational events such as Socials, Bus Trips, Parties,
Lunch Outings, Beano, Library Services, Arts & Crafts,
Films/Videos, Family Banquets, Bowling, and Religious
studies.
Transportation can be arranged for residents to attend local
church services. Roman Catholic and Univeralist services
are held at York Manor on a regular basis.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the facility’s
Resident Council, which meets on a monthly basis.
